In diversity effort, Codorus Chapter of Trout Unlimited to offer workshop for women
Women who are interested in learning the basics of fly fishing are invited to a free fly-fishing and casting workshop sponsored by the Codorus Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
The second annual event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at Laughman’s Sawmill, 1595 Kraft Mill Road, Spring Grove. Lunch and all equipment will be provided, and there's no need to purchase a fishing license.
During the workshop, participants will receive an introduction on fly-fishing gear, equipment and fly tying. Additionally, Amy Coen of TCO Fly Shop will go over fly-fishing gear and members of Codorus Trout Unlimited will be on hand to provide instruction.
The women’s initiative is part of the national Trout Unlimited organization’s efforts to diversify its membership.
“The purpose of our event is to introduce women to the sport of fly fishing, and how enjoyable, relaxing and fun a day of fishing can be,” said Marybeth Norton, event chair and a member of Codorus Trout Unlimited in a news release. “This event is a great way for women who think they might like the sport to ‘get their feet wet.’”
The Codorus Chapter of Trout Unlimited has been in existence for nearly 30 years.
Anyone who is interested in attending or wishes to register for the free workshop is asked to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
