The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America will visit York County on Wednesday, May 9.

Led by former NASCAR driver and current NBC Sports racing analyst Kyle Petty, the 24th anniversary ride will take 225 participants on a 1,200-mile route from Portland, Maine, to Greensboro, North Carolina.

While in York, the riders will stop at the Harley-Davidson Factory/1st Capital Harley-Davidson. Before arriving in York, the ride stops in Lancaster County. Once, the riders leave York, they'll head to Winchester, Virginia.

The event is used to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction — a camp in Randleman, North Carolina, dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

Since 1995, more than 8,175 riders have logged 11.9 million cumulative motorcycle miles and raised $18 million for Victory Junction and other children’s charities. Fans are encouraged to support the cause and greet riders while they’re in town. Spectators may also purchase memorabilia or contribute to the Ride’s “Small Change. Big Impact.” program.

More than 25 new riders will pass through nine states in seven days. The event will be presented for the sixth consecutive year by Manheim®, a provider of used vehicle services.

Dubbed by Petty as “The Americana Tour,” this year’s route includes victory laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway, Woodstock, tours of the Martin Guitar Factory, Harley-Davidson Factory and Petty Museum and a visit to Manheim Pennsylvania — home of the world’s largest auto auction.

“It’s been more than seven years since we’ve been to the East Coast. We heard the requests of both our riders and fans, and we’re excited to deliver a special route full of incredible surprises and experiences, like riding through Shenandoah National Park — which will be the 13th national park visited on the ride,” Petty said in a news release. “We’ll also be ending the ride at camp this year, which always brings everything full circle. Year after year, all the miles we travel are for the kids at Victory Junction. They’re the reason we ride.”
