Dietrich wins Final Showdown at Susquehanna, earns $10,000
The local racing season drew to a close Saturday with the Final Showdown for the sprints and 358 sprints at Susquehanna Speedway Park.
Danny Dietrich collected $10,000 for his win in the 30-lap sprint car feature.
Dietrich started fifth and took the lead from Gerard McIntyre Jr. on the 17th lap. McIntyre had grabbed the lead at the start from his outside front-row starting position. Later, while chasing Dietrich and trying to fend off several challengers, McIntyre did a 360 spin, dropping to eighth at the finish.
Justin Henderson, in Donnie Kreitz Jr.'s car, made a late-race charge from the eighth starting spot, but fell short of catching Dietrich and had to settle for second. Lance Dewease finished third, with Spring Grove's Greg Hodnett and Brian Montieth in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 were Aaron Ott, Ryan Smith, McIntyre, Brent Marks and Brock Zearfoss.
York's Chase Dietz won $2,000 for his win in the 20-lap 358 sprint feature. Dietz started second and took the lead from pole-sitter Kyle Denmyer on the 13th lap. Doug Hammaker took second, with Denmyer, Dillsburg's Chris Frank and Jake Eldreth in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 were Tyler Walton, York's Lucas Montgomery, Dillsburg's Brie Hershey, John Braim and Todd Reed.
