DIRT TRACK RACING: Dietrich drives to victory at Susquehanna on Sunday night


Danny Dietrich continued his mastery of Susquehanna Speedway Park with a victory in Sunday evening's 25-lap sprint car feature.

Dietrich's $3,500 win was his second in as many Susquehanna races this season.

Dietrich started from the pole, but needed a little luck to score the victory.

Blane Heimbach, who started on the outside of the front row, led the first 10 laps before suffering a flat tire, turning the lead over to Dietrich.

Dietrich went on to score the win over Brent Marks, with Donnie Kreitz Jr. in third. Spring Grove's Greg Hodnett and Lance Dewease completed the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 were: Mark Smith, Dover's Austin Hogue, Aaron Ott, Lewisberry's Kyle Moody and Dave Ely.

In the URC 360 sprint feature, Mark Smith scored the $2,000 victory. Smith, who used the same 360 sprint in both features, took the lead from Davey Franek on the fourth of 25 laps. Curt Michael finished second, with Ott, who used two different cars, in third. Franek finished fourth, with Jason Barney in fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 were: Justin Barger, Robbie Stillwaggon, Fawn Grove's Matt Campbell, Tyler Ross and Josh Weller.


Montieth wins at Lincoln: Brian Montieth scored his second win of the weekend on Saturday evening at Lincoln Speedway.

Montieth collected $6,900 for winning the Weldon Sterner Memorial Race, his third Lincoln win of the season.

Montieth started seventh and took the lead from last week's winner, J.J. Grasso on the 16th of 33 laps. Dietrich challenged Montieth at the end, but had to settle for second, with Grasso in third. Hodnett and Robbie Kendall completed the top five. Rounding out the top 10 were Marks, Alan Krimes, Spring Grove's Tim Glatfelter, Niki Young and Freddie Rahmer.

York's Jeff Rohrbaugh won the 358 sprint feature for his first win of the season. Rohrbaugh took the lead when he and race-long leader Kody Lehman bumped after a 17th-lap restart. Doug Hammaker finished second, with Matt Campbell, Dillsburg's Chris Frank and Ryan Wilson in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 were Dillsburg's Brie Hershey, Matt Findley, Todd Rittenhouse Jr., Jordan Givler and John Braim.

Kurt Zimmerman won the All American Outlaws feature.

Buckwalter first at Port Royal: Steve Buckwalter raced to his first win of the season in the 25-lap sprint car feature at Port Royal Saturday.

The win was worth $3,000.

Buckwalter started third, but vaulted into the lead on the first lap to lead the entire distance. Lucas Wolfe finished second, with Heimbach, Rick Lafferty and Ryan Taylor in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 were Doug Esh, Logan Wagner, Dylan Cisney, Davey Sammons and Kevin Nouse.

Jason Schmidt won the late model feature over Matt Parks, Dylan Yoder, Nick Dickson and Tim Wilson.

Jake Waters was the 305 sprint winner over Bill Jones Jr., James Pryde, Zach Newlin and Randy Kaylor.

Montieth also wins at Grove: Montieth collected $3,760 for his first Williams Grove win of the season Friday.

He took the lead from Fairview Township's Pat Cannon on the 10th of 25 laps. Krimes finished second, with Cannon, Hodnett, Marks, Dewease, Wolfe, Glatfelter, Mark Smith and Brock Zearfoss in the top 10.

Doug Hammaker won the 358 sprint feature over Nouse, Campbell, Chandler Leiby, Brad McClelland, Lehman, Dillsburg's Rich Eichelberger, York's Chase Dietz, Matt Findley and Scott Fisher.

On Saturday, Wellsville's Scott Geesey won the super sportsman feature over Russ Mitten. Frankie Herr, Jay Fannasy and Steve Wilbur completed the top five. Rounding out the top 10 were Bobby Hockenberry, Tom Wyckoff, Chad Criswell, Davey Welsh and Stan Wanner.

Wes Alleman won the limited late model feature over Shaun Jones, Jake Jones, Stoverstown's Cam Zeigler and Dover's Billy Wampler.

Jeff Haag was the street stock winner.

Mark Smith triumphs at Selinsgrove: Mark Smith made a late-race pass to claim the $3,500 Jack Gunn Memorial Race for the URC 360 sprints at Selinsgrove Saturday.

Robbie Stillwaggon finished second, with Aaron Ott, T.J. Stutts and Davey Franek in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 were Eric Tomecek, Curt Michael, Derek Locke, Josh Weller and Justin Barger.

In the late model feature Steve Campbell picked up his first win of the season.

Mease victorious at Trailway: Travis Mease won the limited late model feature at Trailway Friday.

Hanover's Sam Gallagher, Ron Kline, Tyler Horst and Pat Beard completed the top five.

Bob Stough won the Legends feature over Chad Earnst, Justin Mitchell, Chris Transeau and York's Bill Diehl.

Kyle Rohrbaugh won the limited stock feature and twin features for the sidewinder micro sprints went to Mike Zielonos and Jim Young.

Red Lion's Darrah takes All Star seconds: Red Lion's Cody Darrah had a pair of second-place finishes during the All Star circuit's Western Pennsylvania weekend.

On Friday at Lernerville, Dale Blaney was the winner over Darrah, Sheldon Haudenschild, Greg Wilson and Danny Holtgraver.

Saturday at Mercer, Chad Kemenah won over Darrah, Lee Jacobs, Ed Lynch Jr. and Blaney.

Other action: Track win leader Gary Stuhler scored his second Hagerstown victory of the season on Saturday.

At Bedford on Friday, Jeff Rine scored the win over Dover's Gene Knaub.
