Spring Grove's Greg Hodnett drives to $12,000 win on opening night of Knoxville Nationals

Spring Grove’s Greg Hodnett started the Knoxville Nationals in victory lane, winning the opening-night 410 sprint-car feature on Wednesday at the Iowa track.

Hodnett led all 25 laps from the outside front-row starting spot. He earned $12,000 for the triumph.

In the end, it was Hodnett over Tim Shaffer, with Kyle Larson in third. GioScelzi and Donny Schatz completed the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 were Ian Madsen, Lucas Wolfe, Aaron Reutzel, Kerry Madsen and Brock Zearfoss.

It was Hodnett's first 410 feature win at the Knoxville Raceway since 1994.

The Knoxville Nationals continue through Saturday night.
