Lucas Wolfe raced to his first win of the season in Sunday afternoon’s season opener at Williams Grove Speedway.

Wolfe collected $3,600 for his 17th career Williams Grove win.

For the third time in as many races this season, Wolfe started from the pole position. This time, however, he wasn’t to be denied. Wolfe led all 25 laps for the victory.

Spring Grove’s Greg Hodnett charged from the ninth starting spot to take second from Ohio invader Caleb Helms in the closing stages of the race. Helms finished third, with defending track champion Freddie Rahmer and defending Port Royal Speedway champion Brock Zearfoss in the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 were Jason Shultz, Danny Dietrich, T.J. Stutts, Coleman Gullick and Gerard McIntyre Jr.

Dietrich triumphs at Lincoln: Dietrich raced to his first win of the new season in Saturday’s 25-lap, sprint-car feature at Lincoln Speedway.

Dietrich’s 39th career Lincoln win was worth $3,500.

For the second week in a row, Wolfe drew the pole starting position, and this time he led for half the race before Dietrich, who started fourth, was able to wrest the lead away.  Dietrich went on to score the win, with Wolfe finishing second. Hodnett finished third, with Brian Montieth and Lewisberry’s Kyle Moody in the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 were Brandon Rahmer, McIntyre, Spring Grove’s Tim Glatfelter, Jim Siegel and opening-day winner Chad Trout, of Dover.

Port Royal program canceled: Port Royal canceled its season opener Saturday night because of the cold weather.
