Sesely wins Atlantic City indoor race
Anthony Sesely raced to victory in Saturday’s Gambler’s Classic inside Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.
Sesely’s win, in the Three Quarter Midget headliner, was his record third in the Atlantic City event and was worth $5,000.
Sesely started from the pole position and had to fend off numerous challengers over the 40-lap distance. Although Sesely was credited with leading every lap, his lead was definitely in question many times. In the end, Sesely was victorious over fellow asphalt modified driver Andy Jankowiak, with another asphalt modified driver, Justin Bonsignore, in third. Dirt micro sprint racer Kyle Lick won the Hard Charger Award, coming from the 20th starting spot to finish fourth, and super modified driver Mike Lichty finished fifth.
Rounding out the top 10 were Zane Zeiner, Jimmy Blewett, Nick Ladyga, Tim Buckwalter and Erick Rudolph. Rudolph recovered from several minor skirmishes to secure that 10th spot. He was gunning for a fourth consecutive victory in the Sammons Indoor Racing Series.
In Friday’s four 20-lap qualifying features, Tony Dimattia, Lichty, Rudolph and Ryan Tidman were the winners.
Saturday’s Slingshot feature went to Dan Spellman, and Danny Bouc won the Champ Kart event.
