Fresh out of the Thanksgiving break, the Susquehannock Tier 3 hockey team had no vacation hangover in its return to the ice on Wednesday.
The Warriors opened up a 4-0 first-period cushion and cruised to the 7-2 victory over Lampeter-Strasburg at York City Ice Arena.
Andrew Darragh and Nathan Smith each scored twice in the opening frame for Susquehannock, setting the offensive tone for the rest of the night. Nicolas Prego bumped the team’s lead up to 5-0 before the Pioneers finally broke through for one of their own.
But, it was too little, too late, as the Warriors outscored Lampeter-Strasburg 2-1 in the third period to bring the game to its final score.
Elijah Emenheiser (two assists), Cory Madison (goal and assist), Kaden Glatfelter (two assists), Darragh and Smith each had two-point games for Susquehannock, which improved to 3-3 on the year.
