WRESTLING: Spring Grove rolls past West York to remain unbeaten on season

  • Spring Grove cruised to a 66-12 wrestling victory over West York on Wednesday.
  • The Rockets improved their dual-meet record to 19-0.
  • Spring Grove has five wrestlers with at least 20 wins on the season.

The Spring Grove wrestling team remained perfect on the season with a 66-12 non-league triumph over visiting West York on Wednesday night, Jan. 24.


The Rockets are now 19-0 in dual meets.

Spring Grove picked up pins from Jake Meyer (138), Brady Pitzer (145), Anthony Hinson (160), Trent Baker (170), Ryan Miller (182), Brayden Ross (113), Chase Bricker (120), Dalton Rohrbaugh (126) and Clay Baker (132).

The Rockets have five wrestlers with more than 20 wins on the season: Rohrbaugh (28-0), Bricker (26-2), Hinson (25-2), Clay Baker (24-2) and Trent Baker (23-4).

Spring Grove was No. 2 in the latest District 3 Class 3-A power ratings, behind only Manheim Central (11-1).

Willie Martin (195) got a pin for West York.



South Western 43, Susquehannock 29: At Hanover, the Mustangs outscored the Warriors 18-3 over the last four matches (152-182) to rally for the non-league win. South Western (8-1) got pins from Dylan Goodman (195), Chris Harris (160) and Cole Stremmel (182). Susquehannock's pins came from Alex Smith (220) and Eric Younkin (138). The Warriors fell to 9-6. 

Eastern York 36, Delone Catholic 25: At McSherrystown, the Golden Knights improved to 10-8 overall with the non-league win. Eastern got pins from Jashim Snyder (182) and Thomas Paulson (126). Delone (9-8) got a pin from Ryan Hart (160). 

York Tech 38, Lancaster Catholic 33: The Spartans picked up pins from Jacob Sharp (220), Todd Edick (285) and Kameron Bly (106) en route to the non-league triumph.
