Dallastown High School boys' tennis team captures Altoona Inviational team crown
- The Dallastown High School boys' tennis team won the Altoona Invitational over the weekend.
- Holden Koons came home with the No. 1 singles crown, winning four straight matches.
- The doubles teams of Jack Lynam/Noah May and Vincent Villani/Cameron Koons each went 4-0.
The Dallastown High School boys' tennis team came home with the Altoona Invitational championship over the weekend.
Eight teams competed in the two-day event, including Abington Heights, Erie Cathedral Prep, Altoona, Manheim Township, Mount Lebanon, Conestoga Valley and Indiana.
It was Dallastown's second tournament title in two weeks after winning the Keystone Cup the previous weekend. The Wildcats have a 9-1 record in dual matches and are 5-0 in York-Adams Division I action.
Dallastown's Holden Koons came home with the No. 1 singles title. He won his first three matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. In the finals, Koons rallied to defeat Cathedral Prep's Matthew DeMarco 2-6, 6-1, 6-2
At No. 2 singles, Dallastown's Jonathan Burns won his first three matches before losing in the finals to Cathedral Prep's Joe DeMarco.
The DeMarcos are the two-time defending PIAA Class 3-A state champions in doubles.
The Wildcats' Sebastian May also won three straight matches at No. 3 singles before falling in the title match to Cathedral Prep's Alec Thomas.
At No. 1 doubles, Jack Lynam and Noah May won four straight matches for Dallastown, including a 7-5, 0-6, 10-6 win over Cathedral Prep's Dave Estes and Jon Horstman in their fourth match.
At No. 2 doubles, Dallastown's team of Vincent Villani and Cameron Koons won four-consecutive, straight-set victories.
