York Catholic earned a share of the York-Adams League Division II boys' tennis title on Monday with a 7-0 triumph at Biglerville.
The Fighting Irish finished in a three-way tie for the crown with Littlestown and Gettysburg, who also finished 7-1. York Catholic is 9-2 overall.
On Monday, the Irish received straight-set singles victories from Michael Andrews, Alberto Brunno, Nick Gingerich and T.J. McGraw to capture the victory. The fifth singles match was a forfeit win for the Irish.
OTHER BOYS' TENNIS
York Suburban 4, Dover 3: At Suburban, the Trojans won both doubles matches to rally past the Eagles. Tyr Abendschoen and Shobhit Khurana both won in singles for Suburban and then teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles point, while Tom Platts and Jacob Arbetman also won their doubles match. Dover got singles wins from Truman Metz, Luke Lightner and Michael Kozuch.
Red Lion 6, Gettysburg 1: At Gettysburg, the Lions roared through singles with a sweep. However, it wasn’t quite that easy.Two singles matches got pushed to a third set. Nick Stare was able to edge Zach Kiick at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4, and Chase McKnight defeated Bobby Weikert at the No. 4 spot, 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.
