The Central York swimming team brought home the girls' championship from the South Western Relays on Saturday, Jan. 27.
The Central girls finished with a score of 288 points, finishing far ahead of second-place South Western at 210. Spring Grove (184) took third, followed by Dallastown (178) and York Suburban (173).
In the boys' competition, South Western took first at 226 points, followed by Central York (196), York Suburban (188), Dallastown (188) and Spring Grove (176).
The first-place finish by the South Western boys was the first time in the 39-year history of the event that South Western won the title at its own event. The second-place finish by the South Western girls matched the program's best-ever finish, which was also achieved in 1999.
In the co-ed competition, Central was again first at 64 points, followed by Dallastown (50), Spring Grove (48), New Oxford (38) and Red Lion (38).
Overall, Central won 12 of the 20 relays.
