Spring Grove High School teams excel at 28th annual Dover Eagle Swimming Invitational


The Spring Grove swimming teams got off to impressive starts on Saturday, Dec. 9, at the season-opening Dover Eagle Swimming Invitational.

The Rockets finished first in the 21-team girls' field and took second in the 16-team boys' field at the 28th annual event.


Spring Grove got wins from its 200-yard girls' medley relay team of Mackenzie Miller, Megan Heist, Sophia Kline and Nya Brown and from Heist in the girls' 200 individual medley. Heist is just a sophomore.

A number of other York-Adams swimmers also claimed event victories. They were:

►Susquehannock junior Katlyn Baer in the girls' 500 freestyle and the girls' 100 backstroke.

►Susquehannock senior Andrew Ferg in the boys' 200 IM.

►West York sophomore Tesia Thomas in the girls' 50 freestyle.

►Northeastern freshman Abby O'Leary in the girls' one-meter diving.

►Dover sophomore Jed Pequignot in the boys' one-meter diving.

►The South Western boys' 200 medley team of John Gill, Todd Jones, Ben Shoul and Ben Tilmes.

►The South Western boys' 400 freestyle team of Todd Jones, John Gill, Ben Tilmes and Ben Shoul.

►South Western senior Ben Shoul in the boys' 100 butterfly.

►New Oxford sophomore Lauren Richter in the girls' 100 butterfly and girls' 100 free.

►The New Oxford girls' 400 freestyle relay team of Kasi Conjack, Ashley Myers, Hailey Jonocha and Lauren Richter.

►Biglerville sophomore Sarah Hardy in the girls' 100 breaststroke.

►The other York-Adams teams in the girls' field were New Oxford in fifth, Dover in seventh, South Western in ninth, West York in 11th, Northeastern in 12th, Susquehannock in 13th, Biglerville in 14th, Delone Catholic in 16th, Red Lion in 17th, Littlestown in 18th and Central York in 21st.

►In the boys' field field, the other York-Adams teams competing were South Western in third, Red Lion in sixth, Dover tied for seventh, Susquehannock in 11th, West York in 12th, New Oxford in 13th and Northeastern in 14th.
