Dallastown boys, girls sweep own swimming invitational

The Dallastown swimming team defended its home pool on Wednesday by capturing first place in both the boys’ and girls’ meets in the Dallastown Invitational.


The girls’ team won with a team score of 125, with York Suburban finishing in second place with 67 points and Cedar Crest taking third with 54 points. In the boys’ meet, the Wildcats won with a team score of 113, with the Trojans taking second at 67 points and Cocalico finishing in third with 57 points. Cedar Cliff and Red Land also competed in the invitational to round out the six-team field.

Dallastown won all three relay events in the girls’ meet to pace its victory, with Morgan Merrifield (50 freestyle), Sydney Hoover (100 butterfly) and Emma Balderson (100 backstroke) capturing individual event victories for the Wildcats. York Suburban’s Megan Hunt won the 100 breast for the Trojans.

Like its girls’ team, the Dallastown boys also won all three relays. Logan Brockway (200 individual medley, 100 back), Jacob Stoner (50 free, 100 fly) and Mark O’Rourke (500 free) all took firsts in individual events for the Wildcats.
