After Day 1 of the 2016 YMCA Short Course Nationals, the York YMCA already has two gold medal performances.

Held in Greensboro, North Carolina, the 200 free relay team of Meghan Small, Cami Cook, Emily Ilgenfritz and Courtney Harnish captured the York County club's first gold medal of the event with a time of 1 minute, 32.30 seconds. They finished nearly a second and a half ahead of the second-place team. Harnish is a junior at West York and Ilgenfritz is a senior at Central York and is committed to swim at Georgia Tech.

Later in the day, Leah Braswell won the 1,000 freestyle for York YMCA with a time of 9:35.73, finishing exactly seven seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer.

The YMCA event runs through Friday, with the 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and 400 medley relay on tap for Tuesday.
