Central York's Courtney Coppersmith has made a habit of striking out lots of batters during the Panthers' unbeaten 2018 season.
Saturday, however, the Central softball standout achieved a truly rare feat.
The left--hander threw a five-inning no-hitter and recorded all 15 of her outs by strikeout. Coppersmith allowed just one walk in a 1-0 triumph over James Buchanan to win the Panther Classic. The game was shortened to five innings because of lightning and rain.
Earlier Saturday, Coppersmith started the Panthers' 12-2 victory over Susquehanna Township. In that game, Coppersmith pitched two-hitless innings, getting all six of her outs by strikeout.
So, in seven innings Saturday, Coppersmith had 21 strikeouts and didn't surrender a hit. She allowed one walk.
The Panthers improved to 13-0. They are ranked No. 1 in the District 3 Class 6-A power ratings.
