SOFTBALL: Susquehannock misses chance at outright title

Susquehannock’s bid to clinch an outright York-Adams League Division II softball title will have to wait after falling to Gettysburg on Tuesday, 5-3.

Megan Green found trouble in the circle early, giving up four runs during her 2 2/3 innings pitched before being replaced by Maddie Staub with two outs in the third inning and Susquehannock behind 4-0.

Green did her best to erase the damage after that, slamming a two-run home run during Susquehannock’s three-run fourth inning.

Shanna Martin led the way for Gettysburg. She tossed all seven innings, giving up six hits while striking out two and walking two. She also went 2 for 3 at the plate with two runs scored.

Susquehannock (13-3 overall, 10-3 in the division) has one more crack at earning sole possession of the division crown when it travels to West York on Thursday afternoon.

Dover 11, West York 3: At West York, the Eagles kept their York-Adams Division II hopes alive thanks to a big day at the plate by Natalie Cutright, who went 4 for 5 with a double, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
