The Delone Catholic softball team is back in the District 3-AA championship game for a second straight season.

In the process, the Squirettes garnered a bit of revenge.

Delone downed Susquenita 4-1 on Tuesday in the semifinals in Willow Street. That is the same Susquenita team that denied Delone a district championship a season ago with a 5-2 victory over the Squirettes in the district title game.

The win also assured Delone of a state playoff berth for a second straight season.

The top-seeded Squirettes improved to 17-4. Susquenita, the No. 4 seed, finished at 17-6.

Delone will now face No. 2 seed Kutztown (18-5) in Thursday's championship at 4:30 p.m. at Lebanon Valley College. Kutztown won the other semifinal over No. 3 seed Brandywine Heights, 6-5. Brandywine finished 15-7.

Kutztown is a traditional softball power, with seven overall district titles to its credit. Delone, meanwhile, has won one district crown, with that title coming in Class A in 1999.

Cassie Rickrode put on a stellar performance for Delone. She pitched a complete-game four-hitter, striking out four without a walk. The only run she allowed was unearned. She also finished 3-for-4 at the plate, including a double and a triple. She drove in one run and scored two.

Katie Laughman (RBI double), MiKayla McCleaf (RBI single) and Lauryn King (RBI single) drove in Delone's other runs.
