YORK-ADAMS SOFTBALL: New Oxford surprises first-place Dover
New Oxford plated six unearned runs to knock off first-place Dover 6-5 on Wednesday in York-Adams softball action.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 9-5 overall and 7-3 in Division II. New Oxford improved to 4-7 overall and 3-7 in Division I.
Alanna Molz got the win on the mound, pitching a complete game and allowing four earned runs. Ivy Becker (two hits, one RBI) and Bryanna Parks (two hits, one run) led the New Oxford attack.
Dover was paced by Jordan Baum (three hits, one RBI), Cierra Hockensmith (two hits, two runs, one RBI) and Alyssa Lawton (two hits, one RBI).
Eastern York 17, York Tech 9: At York Tech, Sierra Arnold got it done at the plate and in the circle for the victorious Golden Knights. Arnold tossed all seven innings, scattering nine runs on 11 hits while striking out six and walking two to collect the win. She was also 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and a double and a triple. Ashley Tolley was 3-for-4 with a double for Tech.
South Western 13, Northeastern 4: At South Western, Mustangs catcher Allie Zombro led the way with a 4-for-4 effort from the plate. That outburst included four RBIs, two home runs and a double. Allie Fleming came on in relief, pitching two innings, striking out four and walking two to collect the win. She also went 3-for-4 with two triples and a double. Ciara Coombes was 2-for-3 for the Bobcats.
Central York 6, West York 3: At Central York, Kelsey Wisner and Briannah Dobson were each 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Panthers. Wisner also scored a run. Kayla Resh scattered 10 hits over seven innings to collect the win, She struck out three and walked two. West York received a 3-for-4, two-RBI effort from Jossalin Shipley. Central improved to 11-1 overall and 9-1 in York-Adams Division I.
Delone Catholic 7, York Suburban 4: At Delone Catholic, Shelbee Holcomb and Lori Sheaffer had three hits each to lead the Squirettes. Lauryn King slammed a two-run homer, highlighting a four-run sixth for Delone.
Kennard-Dale 7, Fairfield 6: At Fairfield, the Rams trailed 6-3 entering the top of the seventh, but plated three runs in their final at bat to capture the win. Kaila Beach and Alexis Valentine led the Rams by each going 2-for-3, including a solo homer. Rhiannon McGlone also went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Rams. K-D improved to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in York-Adams Division III. For the Green Knights, Kaitlin Barron went 2-for-4, including a three-run double.
Spring Grove 7, Susquehannock 4: At Spring Grove, Julia Wivell's dual effort helped the Rockets get past the Warriors. Wivell tossed a complete game in the circle, scattering 10 hits over seven innings, striking out one and walking three to get the win. Wivell also added a pair of home runs to her own victorious cause. Ally Kerr and Kristi Langhans doubled for the Warriors.
