PREP: West York boys' soccer team earns shutout triumph over Kennard-Dale
The West York boys' soccer team scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 triumph over Kennard-Dale on Thursday, Oct. 5.
Jason Bruder and Julio Salaveria-Cuellar each scored for West York, while Adam Hersey and Kyle Chambers added assists.
Central York 4, Northeastern 0: At Pleasureville, Trace Becker scored both first-half goals for Central, while Nick Starr and Alex Salter each found the back of the net in the second half. Central improved to 15-1 overall and 11-0 in York-Adams Division I. The Panthers have already clinched the division crown.
Biglerville 3, York Catholic 1: At York Catholic, Christian Saldivar, Lazaro Salazar and Bryan Diaz each had a goal for Biglerville. York Catholic’s only offense came from Tate Kibler in the first half to tie the score at 1-1.
Gettysburg 5, Eastern York 1: At Wrightsville, Bonita Soliday led the Warriors by scoring one goal and adding one assist. For the Golden Knights, Tarisa Kelly scored the lone goal, while Marissa Gockley made 29 stops in goal.
Christian School of York 5, Lancaster Mennonite-Hershey 3: At York, the Crusaders took a 4-3 lead into halftime and then scored the only goal of the second half to add insurance. Kendis Butler scored four of CSY’s five goals, while Claire Harbaugh had the other, plus two assists.
Northeastern 0, Central York 0: At Manchester, the first-place Panthers had to settle for a scoreless tie in a York-Adams Division I contest. Central fell to 9-1-1 in the division, while Northeastern is 4-2-4. Rachel Szczypinski had three saves for Central, while Rachel Reeser had four saves for Northeastern.
Biglerville 2, York Catholic 0: At Biglerville, Sydney Trostel and Erika Padilla each scored a goal to lead the Canners.
New Oxford 1, Central York 0, OT: At New Oxford, the Colonials handed the Panthers their first York-Adams Division I loss of the season in overtime. Central fell to 9-1-1 in the division. New Oxford improved to 7-2-2.
Northeastern 2, Dover 0: At Manchester, Tapanga Barrick and Laney Seifert scored goals to lead the Bobcats.
Bermudian Springs 4, Susquehannock 1: At Glen Rock, Kaitlyn McCollum scored twice to lead Berm, while Olivia Blasone had a goal and three assists. Susquehannock’s only goal came courtesy of Lauryn Wojcik. Bermudian won the JV game, 2-0.
Top seeds move on: Only two seeded players suffered losses during the first two rounds of the York-Adams League Girls' Tennis Singles Tournament.
In the Class 3-A second round, Susquehannock's Molly Hogan beat No. 7 seed Maddie Mummert of Central York when Mummert retired with an injury.
In the 2-A second round, Delone Catholic's Rebecca Dolce upset No. 8 seed Emily Glass of Biglerville, 6-0, 6-1.
The quarterfinals and semifinals are slated for Friday, followed by the final and third-place match on Saturday.
