SOCCER: Red Lion boys edge rival Dallastown in overtime

Thursday's York-Adams League Division I boys' soccer showdown between Central York and Dallastown lost a little of its luster on Tuesday night.

Red Lion slipped past arch-rival Dallastown on Tuesday in double-overtime at Horn Field, 1-0.

Ben Warner scored the game-winner off an assist from Kade Adomanis with 37 seconds left in the second OT.

Dallastown had the edge statistically, owning a 6-3 edge in shots on goal and a 4-2 advantage in corners.

Red Lion goalie Brock Gould made six saves to record the shutout.

Central York and Dallastown entered Tuesday with identical 9-0-1 Division I records. The only division blemish for either team, prior to Tuesday, was a scoreless tie earlier this season. Central will visit Dallastown Thursday evening. Red Lion, however, threw a monkey wrench into Thursday's looming showdown. The Lions improved to 7-4-0 in D-I action.

Central York meanwhile, took over sole possession of first-place in the division with a 5-0 win over New Oxford. Nick Starr scored a pair of goals and Carter Luckenbaugh notched a pair of assists. The Panthers clinched at least a share of the division title with the win and Dallastown's loss..


West York 4, Dover 2: At Dover, Kenton Meckley scored a goal and recorded an assist as the Bulldogs captured the road victory. Aidan Clark added a pair of assists for West York. Zach Leto and Cole Wentz scored goals for Dover. West York improved to 8-4 in York-Adams Division II.

South Western 3, Northeastern 2: At Hanover, James Harris, Geoffrey Little and Alex Clapper all scored for South Western. Northeastern’s Haydon Seifert scored both goals for the visitors, with Kevin Torres adding an assist on the second tally.

Susquehannock 3, Eastern York 0: At Glen Rock, Jason Weger, Xander Holloway and Colton Mumley each scored a goal for the Warriors. The Susquehannock defense held the Golden Knights to just one shot on goal.

Gettysburg 4, York Suburban 1: At Gettysburg, the Warriors pulled away for by scoring three second-half goals. Drew Wivell had a pair of assists for Gettysburg. Matt Baquero scored the Trojans’ goal.


Dallastown 2, Red Lion 0: At Dallastown, Hannah Larson and Jordan Lese each scored for Dallastown, while the Wildcats also held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. First-place Dallastown improved to 8-2-0 in York-Adams Division I.

Northeastern 4, South Western 1: At Manchester, Brittany Arentz had two goals for Northeastern, while Amanda Bentz had a goal and assist. Taylor Geiman scored the only goal for South Western.

Christian School of York 5, York Country Day 3: At CSY, Kendis Butler had four goals and an assist for CSY, while Olivia Cutting scored the only other goal for the Crusaders. YCD got goals from Hayla Fishel, Nylaya Way and Kylie Tarburton.

York Suburban 2, Gettysburg 0: At Suburban, the home team triumphed behind goals from Roma Williams and Delaney Gross. Jacqueline Shockey had seven saves to record the shutout.

Susquehannock 7, Eastern York 1: At Wrightsville, the Warriors cruised to improve to 10-0-1 in York-Adams Division II. Susquehannock has clinched the division title. No other details were reported.

Dover 4, West York 1: At Dover, the Eagles won this battle of Route 74 rivals. No other details were reported.
