  • Three York County teams earned the top three seeds in the District 3 2-A girls' lacrosse field.

  • In total, 19 York-Adams League teams qualified for the District 3 lacrosse playoffs.

District 3 lacrosse enters a new era next week.

For the first time, the 2017 playoffs will feature two divisions in both the boys' and girls' brackets.

Previously, the district and state playoffs had just a single division for each bracket.

Rachel Marshner, left, had five goals on Wednesday in Susquehannock's District 3 Class 2-A title match against Kennard-Dale. The Warriors won the match, 13-12.

Under the new format, York County teams are shaping up to be a power to contend with in District 3 Class 2-A girls' action.

County teams swept the top three district seeds in 2-A girls — Susquehannock (15-1) at No. 1, Kennard-Dale (13-1-1) at No. 2 and York Catholic (12-2-1) at No. 3.

The seeds were determined by the District 3 power ratings. Only regular-season matches against PIAA opponents are counted in District 3 calculations. The records listed in this story were provided by District 3 and were the records used for the calculations.

Two other York-Adams teams made the District 3 2-A field — Eastern York (11-5-1) at No. 8 and West York (5-11) at No. 16. West York will travel to Susquehannock for an all-York County game in the first round at 7 p.m. Monday.

Kennard-Dale won the District 3 title last season when there was only one girls' class. They became the first York-Adams team to claim a district lacrosse crown. No York-Adams boys' team has ever won a district championship.

In all, 19 York-Adams League teams made the district field.

Making the grade in 3-A girls are: No. 8 South Western (10-5), No. 9 New Oxford (11-6), No. 11 Red Lion (9-7) and No. 12 Dallastown (8-8).

The local teams in the 3-A boys' field are: No. 3 Central York (16-1), No. 7 Red Lion (12-5) and No. 8 Dallastown (11-5). Central York will get a bye in Tuesday's first round.

With seven teams qualifying, nearly half of the 16 schools in the 2-A boys' bracket are from the York-Adams League. They are: No. 2 York Catholic (12-3), No. 5 Susquehannock (11-5), No. 11 York Suburban (9-5), No. 12 Eastern York (10-7), No. 13 West York (8-8), No. 15 South Western (8-8) and No. 16 Spring Grove (8-9).
