LACROSSE: York Catholic girls roll in showdown
In a battle of unbeatens, the York Catholic girls' lacrosse team had little trouble with New Oxford, soaring to a 17-5 victory over the visitors.
The Lady Irish improved to 5-0 both overall and in the York-Adams League. The Colonials fell to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the league.
Anna Linthicum had four goals and two assists for York Catholic, while Jamie Mullen and Sarah Mazzur each had three goals. Braxtin Reddinger scored all five goals for New Oxford.
OTHER GIRLS' LACROSSE
West York 12, Dallastown 3: At West York, the Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats 8-0 in the second half to pull away. Ally Williams scored half of West York’s 12 goals, while Tori Gross made nine saves. Dallastown got goals from Melissa Clapsaddle, Olivia Jackson and Georgia Prindle.
Red Lion 15, Eastern York 9: At Red Lion, the Lions pulled away from the Golden Knights in the second half. Alyssa Adams, Peyton Shima and Emily Harrington each scored four goals for Red Lion, while goalie Larissa Herbert made 19 stops. Eastern got two goals each from Rylie Toomey, Briana Pfeiffer and Lauren Kauffman.
Central York 21, York Suburban 9: At Central, Jill Czaplinski and Addy Billings led the Panthers to the victory by each scoring five goals. Also for Central, Alexa Glatfelter scored four goals, Bayleigh Keator scored three goals and Lauren Ogurcak and Katelyn Nicholson each scored two goals. For the Trojans, Marley Dahlheimer scored four goals, while Bailey Cross and Katherine Nooney each scored two goals.
Susquehannock 23, Spring Grove 6: At Spring Grove, Gena Speights (five goals, two assists), Maddie Ellis (five goals), Kayla Held (three goals, five assists), Emma Shiffler (two goals, four assists), Kenna Hancock (two goals, three assists) and Rachel Marshner (two goals, two assists) paced Susquehannock. Lauren Grove and Casey Franklin each had two Spring Grove goals.
York Suburban 15, Central York 14: At Suburban, Collin Mailman paced the home team with six goals and three assists in the York-Adams League showdown. Mike Sipes (four goals) and Dustin Knaub (two goals, assist) also excelled for Suburban. Central was led by Alex Kilgour (five goals), Katon Yantek (two goals, two assists), T.J. Ross (goal, two assists) and Gavin George (goal, two assists). Suburban improved to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the York-Adams League. Central fell to 5-2 and 4-1.
South Western 12, Kennard-Dale 3: At Fawn Grove, Carson Perry scored four goals and Braden Dunn added three more as the Mustangs cruised. Brennan Beach, Wyatt Cairns and Brandon Childs all scored goals for K-D.
Dallastown 12, West York 5: At Dallastown, Tanner Haines (four goals, assist) and Andrew Kvasnovsky (three goals, two assists) powered the Wildcats. Nicholas Cintron had two West York goals. Jack Marks made six saves to get the win in goal.
Susquehannock 11, Spring Grove 9: At Glen Rock, Dorian Faster scored five goals and added an assist to his total as the Warriors held off their guests. Anthony DeVincent scored a goal and had four assists for Susquehannock. Spring Grove was led by four goals and an assist from Tanner Bolton.
York Catholic 17, New Oxford 4: At New Oxford, seven goals from Jacob Norton helped the Irish cruise. Eli Doyle added three goals and two assists to the winning cause. New Oxford was led by a two-goal effort from John Wilson.
Eastern York 16, Red Lion 11: At Wrightsville, Evyn Witman led all scorers with five goals for the Golden Knights. Brian Lehman added three goals and an assist for Eastern York. Jac Gemmill led Red Lion’s attack with four goals. Sam Emig and Nick Shima recorded a pair of goals each for the Lions.
