LACROSSE: York Catholic boys earn high-scoring victory


The York Catholic boys’ lacrosse team won a high-scoring affair against Susquehannock at home on Tuesday afternoon, 17-14.

York Catholic Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish dominated through the first half, building a 10-5 lead at the break. But, the Warriors kept narrowing the deficit in the second half, but couldn’t get enough defensive stops to slow down the York Catholic attack and come back all the way.

The Fighting Irish were led by Jacob Norton’s five-goal and two-assist performance, while also getting four goals from Eli Doyle. Eddie Smith dished out four assists to go along with a goal. For Susquehannock, Dorian Faster scored half of his team’s 14 goals, while Jack Rebich found the back of the net three times.


West York 18, Kennard-Dale 3: At West York, Sam Sterner, Zac Hess and Nick Cintron each netted hat tricks for the Bulldogs — with Sterner adding another goal for good measure to close with four. Hess was able to add a pair of assists for a five-point effort. West York’s Nate Townsley dished out three assists and scored a goal for the victors. Wyatt Cairns, Nicholas Fritz and Michael Smith each scored for Kennard-Dale.

Central York 18, Eastern York 9: At Central York, the Panthers doubled-up the visiting Golden Knights. Will Hartzell, T.J. Ross and Katon Yantek combined to score 14 of Central’s 18 goals and also had seven combined assists for a 21-point night. Isiah King scored three goals for Eastern, while Jimmy Kurnik had two goals and two assists.

Spring Grove 16, York Suburban 13: At Spring Grove, Bryce Kephart, Dylan Griffiths, Tanner Bolton and Zeb Hollinger each had four goals for the Rockets. Kephart also had four assists. Collin Mailman had eights goals and an assist for Suburban.

Mechanicsburg 19, Dover 3: At Dover, the Eagles dropped the non-league contest. No other details were reported. Dover won the JV match, 7-6.


Kennard-Dale 20, West York 7: At Fawn Grove, Maddie Day scored six goals and teammate Morgan Bowings added five more as the Rams cruised at home. Day added an assist for a seven-point game and Bowings helped out on two goals to also notch seven points. Emmie Dressel’s four goals and three assists also gave her seven points on the evening. Ally William sled the way for West York with three goals.

Eastern York 13, Central York 10: At Wrightsville, four different Eastern players scored multiple goals, including three from Rylie Toomey, Rachel Deppen and Bri Pfeiffer, while Kylie Nikolaus added two. Addy Billings had four goals for Central and Bayleigh Keator and Katelyn Nicholson added two apiece.

Spring Grove 15, York Suburban 5: Casey Franklin and Lauren Grove each scored four goals to power the Rockets. Jordyn Miller added three more goals to the winning cause. Zoe Zambito scored three goals for Suburban, and teammate Katherine Mooney scored two goals.

Red Lion 13, Dallastown 8: At Dallastown, the Lions scored eight times in the second half to pull away from the host Wildcats. Alyssa Adams scored four times to lead Red Lion, three of which came in the second half. Sam Collis, Emily Herrington, Josie Raver and Peyton Shima all had multi-goal performances for the Lions. Melissa Clapsaddle scored three second-half goals for Dallastown, while Danni Dubois added two of her own.

York Catholic 10, Susquehannock 7: At Glen Rock, Amanda Tufano scored three straight goals in the second half to spark the Irish. Maddie Ellis, Rachel Marshner and Riley Roeder each scored two goals for the Warriors. Sarah Mazzur and Lisa Casagrande each scored two goals and Anna Linthicum added a goal and two assists for York Catholic.
