The Central York ice hockey team got its playoff season off to an impressive start on Monday night.
No. 2 seed Central dominated the third-seeded Shamrocks, 9-1, in a Central Penn Interscholastic Hockey League Rothrock Division first-round playoff contest at the York City Ice Arena.
Central improved to 16-3, while the Shamrocks fell to 12-5-2.
The York County team will now face top-seeded Cedar Crest in a second-round game Wednesday at a site and time to be determined. Cedar Crest (17-1-1) routed fourth-seeded Penn Manor on Monday, 8-0.
In Monday's win, Central was paced by Abraham Miller (two goals, two assists), Jacob Nagy (two goals, assist), Levi Crerand (two goals), Garrett Myers (two assists) and Wesley Copenheaver II (goal, assist). Thomas Knapp and Jordan Kline had Central's other goals, while Carter Crebs had nine saves to get the win in goal.
Central outshot the Shamrocks, 35-10.
