ICE HOCKEY: Central York opens season with high-scoring win over Shamrocks

Monday night, Oct. 30, was the first night of the Central Penn Interscholastic Hockey League varsity season.

Central York's offense, however, was already in midseason form.

Its defense, however, could still use some work.

Central York still came out on top, defeating the Shamrocks, 10-8, in a Rothrock Division opener at Twin Ponds East.

Central scored at least three goals in all three periods, capped by four in the third frame.

Central showcased its scoring depth, with eight different players scoring. Only Jordan Kline and Jacob Nagy scored more than once, with each player netting two goals. Kline and Nagy each added two assists.

Dallastown has rough return: In its return to the CPIHL, Dallastown had a rough opener, losing to Cedar Crest, 7-1, in another Rothrock Division game at Klick Lewis Arena.

Dallastown didn't have a team last year and was combined with Central York in 2015-16. The last time Dallastown was a team by itself was in 2014-15.

Dallastown's only goal came shorthanded, courtesy of Cole Brant, which gave it an early 1-0 lead.
