The Central York/Dallastown ice hockey team saw its hold on the top spot in the Central Penn Interscholastic Hockey League Tier 3 standings vanish on Wednesday night, losing 3-1 to MSMCC at York City Ice Arena.

The two sides entered the night as the top two teams in the standings, separated by only a point. Nothing looked set to change with the game tied at 1-1 midway through the third period, before MSMCC struck twice quickly to earn the win. Daniel Yanich and Chad Custer scored 63 seconds apart in the game’s final five minutes to break the deadlock and earn the victory, moving into first place.

Central York/Dallastown opened the game’s scoring with a goal late in the first period by Harrison Batt. That lead lasted for much of the second period as well, before MSMCC tied it up late in the second. The goal by Charles Ghiazza started a 3-0 scoring run for MSMCC to close out the game.

Central York/Dallastown is 5-2 on the year and sits one point back of MSMCC, which is 5-1-1.
