Central York falls just two shots short of another District 3 Class 3-A team golf title

The Central York Panthers fell just two shots short of their third District 3 Class 3-A team golf championship in four years on Tuesday.

Central finished with a 307 total, while Cumberland Valley claimed the 3-A team crown with a 305 total at Briarwood East Golf Course.

It was the second straight runner-up finish for the Panthers, who won the 3-A team championship in 2016 and 2017.

Central's Carson Bacha was the individual medalist on the day with a 2-under-par 70. The Panthers' other three scoring players were Jun Lee at 72, Alex Gekas at 81 and Cole Sevick at 84.

York Catholic, meanwhile, finished third in the 2-A team tournament with a 358 total. Lancaster Mennonte won the 2-A team crown at 318, followed by Wyomissing at 337.

The Irish were looking for their first District 3 2-A team golf title since 2014.

Russ McPaul's 77 led York Catholic, followed by Aaron Sarosky at 92, Max Kile at 94 and Josh Sutton at 95.

Cumberland Valley and Lancaster Mennonite also qualified for the PIAA state playoffs, as did Hershey and Camp Hill in girls' action.
