Kendel Abrams will take a measure of momentum into next week’s PIAA individual golf championships after winning Monday’s PIAA East Regional Class 3-A qualifier at Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood.

The Susquehannock High School senior edged Conestoga’s Samantha Yao in a playoff after both carded matching 8-over-par 80s.

Also qualifying in Class 3-A girls was Central York’s Julianne Lee, who posted an 85, placing her in a tie for sixth place. The top 12 3-A girls' finishers advanced to next week’s championships, to be held Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 23-24, at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center in York.

In the girls’ Class 2-A event, Eastern York's Alexandra Lowder qualified for the state tournament after finishing in second place with a 91. Morgan Sohosky of Bloomsburg won the 2-A regional title with an 84.

Eastern York's Alexandra Lowder finished second at the PIAA East Regional Class 2-A state qualifier at Golden Oaks Golf Club, qualifying for the state tournament.

Kennard-Dale’s Alexandra Smith just missed a spot in the state tournament, after she and MMI Preparatory’s Jessica McClellan both shot 99s. However, McClellan was able to edge Smith in a playoff for the final spot.

In boys’ Class 3-A, Central York standout Joe Parrini qualified for next week’s event with 7-over 79. That score saw Parrini finish in a five-way tie for 20th place. Parrini made the cut on the number, meaning if he had finished just one shot worse, he wouldn't have advanced.

Parrini was the lone York-Adams League boys’ state qualifier in both Class 3-A and 2-A. Central York's Will Gekas and New Oxford's Mike Robinson shot 82s and Spring Grove's Karl Frisk fired an 83 in 3-A.

In Class 2-A boys, Littlestown's Devin Peart missed the cut by one shot with an 83.

Grant Gronka of Central Columbia won the 2-A boys' crown with a 75. Brock Fassnacht of Warwick carded a 70 to win the 3-A boys' championship.
