PREP: Central York, Susquehannock finish off perfect York-Adams division golf seasons
The Central York and Susquehannock golf teams finished off perfect York-Adams division seasons on Thursday, Sept. 21.
At Hanover Country Club, The Panthers finished with a 302 total to beat second-place Dallastown by 30 shots in a Division I event. New Oxford was third at 334, followed by Spring Grove (349), Red Lion (357), South Western (432) and Northeastern (435).
University of Arizona recruit Joe Parrini finished as the individual medalist with a 1-under-par 70, while his teammate, Carson Bacha, was second at 72. New Oxford's Justin Gruver (76), Central York's Will Gekas (78), Spring Grove's Karl Frisk (78) and Dallastown's Darin Wise (79) were the only golfers to break 80.
Central finished 42-0 in D-I, while Dallastown took second at 31-11.
At Honey Run, Susquehannock took the Division II crown by finishing first with a 336 total. Dover was second at 347, followed by York Suburban (357), Eastern York (374), West York (383), Gettysburg (391) and Kennard-Dale (416).
Dover's Logan Snyder was medalist with a 71. Susquehannock's Kendel Abrams was the only other golfer to break 80, carding a 78.
Susquehannock, like Central York, finished 42-0. York Suburban was second at 28-14.
Dallastown 3, New Oxford 2: At New Oxford, Dallastown took a giant step toward the York-Adams Division I championship. The Wildcats improved to 7-0 in the division, while New Oxford fell to 5-1. Morgan Kistler won at No. 2 singles in three sets for Dallastown, while Taylor Jones won in straight sets at No. 3 singles. Victoria Gruen and Rene Williams won at No. 1 doubles for the Wildcats, also in three sets.
York Suburban 4, Dover 1: At Suburban, the Trojans received singles victories from Alex Clancy and Lucy Smith. Skylar Volz and Kelly Sargen combined to win the No. 1 doubles match, while Zoe Prats and Ini Ekaha combined to win the No. 2 doubles match. For the Eagles, Alex DiGiovanni won the No. 1 singles match.
Red Lion 4, Kennard-Dale 1: At Fawn Grove, the Lions clinched the match on the strength of a pair of doubles victories. Abbie Mitzel teamed with Alyssa Lutz and Cora Beyer paired with Emily Herbert to sweep the format for the Lions. Kristina Snyder and Destiny Mann each recorded singles wins for Red Lion.
Central York 3, New Oxford 2: At York, the Panthers continued a highly successful week. Central beat York-Adams Division I contenders Dallastown, Red Lion and New Oxford this week. First-place Central improved to 6-0 in the division. New Oxford fell to 3-2-1. Bree Craley had two goals and an assist for Central, while Shae Strange had had a goal and two assists. New Oxford won the JV match, 3-1.
