The much-heralded Central York golf team is living up to its advance billing in the early going of the York-Adams League Division I season.

Carson Bacha led the Panthers (291) to first place in the team competition at South Hills Golf Course near Hanover by shooting a sizzling 63 on Wednesday, Aug. 23. That included a back-nine 30.

The Panthers are now 12-0 after two division matches. 

Brady St. Pierre (75), Jun Lee (75) and Brandon Glover (78) rounded out the team scoring for Central. Will Gekas added an 80 to place him ninth in the individual standings.

New Oxford (316) took second. Justin Gruver led the Colonials with a 70.

Spring Grove (323) took third. Ty Gladhill paced the Rockets with a 76. Brandon Simmons and Karl Frisk tied for 10th at 80.

Dallastown (325) took fourth, led by Gavin Harvey (78) and Darren Sciortino (80).

Red Lion (374) took fifth, followed by South Western (389) and Northeastern (447).

GIRLS' TENNIS

Dallastown 5, York Suburban 0: At Dallastown, the Wildcats received straight-set singles victories from Meghan Salaga, Morgan Kistler and Taylor Jones. Grace Heird and Dani Schoeppner combined to win the No. 1 doubles match, while Rene Williams and Victoria Gruen won the No. 2 doubles match, both in straight sets.
