GOLF: Central York, York Catholic earn divisional triumphs

  • York Catholic won the York-Adams Division III golf opener, four shots ahead of York Tech.
  • Central York won its second straight York-Adams Division I match, six shots ahead of Dallastown.

Central York's top four players each shot 81 or lower on Wednesday at South Hills Golf Course en route to the Panthers' second straight first-place finish in a York-Adams Division I golf tournament.

Joe Parrini led the way for Central with a 74, followed by Julianne Lee (77), Will Gekas (80) and Matt Bricker (81).

The Panthers finished with a 312 overall total at the Hanover-area course, which was six shots better than second-place Dallastown. Blake Sebring (74) and Evan Greenplate (79) led the Wildcats.

Luke Hoffnagle posted the day's low individual score with a 73, while his teammate, Mason Staub, added a 75, to help the Rockets take third at 330.

New Oxford's Michael Robinson was the only other player to break 80 with a 77, helping the Colonials take fourth at 341.

Irish take Division III win: York Catholic edged York Tech to win the season-opening York-Adams Division III golf match of the season on Tuesday at Mountainview Golf Club near Fairfield.

York Catholic's Andrew Forjan shot a 76 on Tuesday at Mountainview Golf Course near Fairfield to lead the Fighting Irish to a team victory in the York-Adams Division III season-opening golf tournament.

The Fighting Irish finished with a 327 total, which was four shots clear of second-place Tech.

York Catholic's Andrew Forjan tied for the day's low score with a 5-over-par 76. Jon Giambalvo added an 80 for the Irish, followed by Dillon Hippensteel at 83 and Steven Nigro at 88.

Tech was paced by Abe Miller's 76, followed by Alex May (81), Luke Greisler (87) and Hugh McMurray (87).

Bermudian Springs finished a distant third in the team race at 362, paced by Ty Shuchart at 82.
