Central York senior Gus Minkin continued his stellar play on the golf course, by capturing the PIAA AAA Boys' East Regional tournament on Monday at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

Minkin tied for first place with Kyle Vance of Methacton with a three-under 69. Minkin then won the tournament outright by defeating Vance in a playoff.

With the victory, Minkin qualifies for the Class AAA state tournament that is scheduled to be played next Monday and Tuesday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort.

Also joining Minkin at the state tournament from York County is fellow teammate Joe Parrini and Eastern York's duo of Andrew Davis and Kevin Crumbling. Davis finished tied for 11th with a four-over 76, while Crumbling and Parrini each tied for 16th with five-over 77's. Dallastown's Blake Sebring missed out on being involved in a playoff for the final three state spots by a stroke, finishing with a seven-over 79.

Central sophomore Julianne Lee was the only girl from York County to qualify for the Class AAA state tournament. She shot a 12-over 84 on the day, which tied her for eighth.

In the Class AA tournament, York Catholic's Andrew Forjan was the only golfer from York County in the field. He finished 25th, shooting an 87, failing to qualify for next week's state tournament.
