York Catholic, Central's Parrini off to fast starts in high school golf

The 2015 high school golf season got started on a rainy Thursday in central Pennsylvania.

York Catholic finished first in a York-Adams Division III tournament at Springwood Golf Course. The event was limited to just nine holes because of rain.

The Fighting Irish finished with a 157 total, which was 16 shots better than second-place York Tech. Delone Catholic was third at 190, followed by Hanover (201), Fairfield (221) and Bermudian Springs (232).

This year, each team only counts four scores (out of six players) for its team total. In years past, five scores were counted.

Individual results were not provided and will not be used toward averages.

Parrini shines for Central York: New Central York player Joe Parrini was the individual medalist at the Manheim Township Shootout at Overlook Golf Course in Lancaster County with a 73.

Parrini enjoyed a standout freshman season in 2015 for York Catholic, but has since transferred to play for Central as a sophomore.

Central finished second as a team with a 305 total, four shots behind first-place Manheim Township.

Julianne Lee added a 76 for Central, while Connor Bacha shot 77 and Gus Minkin fired a 79.

Penn Manor was third at 341, followed by Warwick (342), Solanco (357), Wyomissing (360) and Manheim Central (381).
