West York High School girls' volleyball program has confirmed case of COVID-19

The West York High School girls' varsity volleyball team has reported a confirmed case of COVID-19.

The school posted the notice on the district's website on Thursday.

Because of privacy requirements, the school is not releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify the individual. The district has contacted faculty, staff, coaches and the families of the students who may have been in close contact with this positive case and has advised them to quarantine, as directed by guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Close contact is defined as any individual who was within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from two days before illness onset until the time the patient is isolated.

At this time, the district said West York High School will remain open.

The West York girls' volleyball team is 2-2 in York-Adams Division II and has not played since last Thursday. On the team's ArbiterLive.com scheduling site, matches on Monday (vs. York High), Tuesday (vs. Kennard-Dale), Thursday (vs. Eastern York) and Saturday (vs. York High) are listed as postponed.
