West York, Delone Catholic to square off again for York-Adams girls' volleyball title


Two state-ranked programs, West York and Delone Catholic will square off for the York-Adams League Girls’ Volleyball Tournament championship on Wednesday night.

Both teams punched their tickets to the final by earning semifinal wins on Tuesday night at Dallastown.

West York captured a 25-17, 25-12, 16-25, 25-22 triumph over Dover, while Delone outlasted Eastern York in a thriller, 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 17-25, 18-16.

The Bulldogs and the Squirettes will collide for the crown at 7 p.m. Wednesday back at Dallastown.

It will be a rematch of last year’s title contest, that West York won, 3-0.

Delone will enter this year’s match at 18-2 and ranked No. 9 in the state in Class 2-A according to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association. West York is 19-1 and ranked No. 5 in the state in 3-A.

Delone was led Tuesday by Maddie Clabaugh (21 kills), Brooke Lawyer (17 kills) and Molly Raville (47 assists).

West York’s stat leaders were Tesia Thomas (12 kills), Julia Rill (11 kills), Gianna Krinock (10 kills) and Taylor Morley (34 assists, 11 digs).

Eastern (15-5), in the loss to Delone, was led by Olivia Koicuba (23 digs), Morgan Dobbeck (10 kills, 14 digs), Sarah Moore (19 kills, 10 digs), Abby Smith (15 kills) and Katie Lehman (43 assists, six digs).

Dover fell to 12-6.
