Two division champions eliminated during York-Adams girls' volleyball quarterfinals

  • Delone, Eastern, Dover and West York earned York-Adams girls' volleyball quarterfinal victories.
  • In Tuesday's semifinals at Dallastown, Eastern meets Delone and West York meets Dover.
  • The semifinal winners will advance to Wednesday's title match at 7 p.m. at Dallastown.

Two division champions were eliminated on Monday during the first night of the York-Adams League Girls' Volleyball Tournament.

Division I champion Central York and Division III co-champion York Catholic were both ousted in the quarterfinals.

Delone sweeps Central: Central (12-2) was swept by Division III co-champ Delone Catholic, 25-20, 25-21, 27-25 at Dallastown.

The Squirettes were powered by Molly Raville (27 assists), Lauren Trummer (four assists, seven aces, 15 digs), Maddie Clabaugh (11 kills, 12 digs) and Brooke Lawyer (12 kills, four digs).

Eastern tops York Catholic: York Catholic, meanwhile, lost to Eastern York, 25-14, 24-26, 27-25, 25-22, also at Dallastown. The Golden Knights (15-4) finished third in D-II. York Catholic (16-2) came into the match ranked No. 6 in the state in Class 2-A in the latest Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Poll. Delone (17-2) was No. 9 in 2-A in that same poll.

The Eastern stat leaders were Morgan Dobbeck (five kills, 11 digs), Sarah Moore (17 kills, 12 digs), Abby Smith (11 kills, five aces), Katie Lehman (15 digs, 34 assists) and Morgan Winter (10 digs).

York Catholic was paced by Julia Yanick (five kills, nine digs), McKenna Walker (38 digs), Megan Miller (13 digs), Bella Kepner (13 kills, 10 digs), Megan Daugherty (13 digs, 14 assists), Madeline Walker (seven digs, 25 assists) and Hope Leavy-Gaskins (23 kills, eight digs).

Dover knocks off Suburban: Another state-ranked team got knocked off Monday in the quarterfinals when York Suburban lost to Dover at Red Lion, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 27-25. Suburban (14-3), the D-II runner-up, was ranked No. 8 in Pennsylvania in Class 3-A. Dover finished second in D-I.

Chayce Hoffman (16 kills, 19 digs), Emma Davis (23 kills, nine digs), Abby Diehl (seven kills, nine digs, 37 assists), Emma Nace (10 digs) and Riley Runk (10 digs) paced Dover (12-5) to the win.

West York rolls past South Western: The other quarterfinal at Red Lion saw D-II champion West York cruise past South Western, 25-15, 25-20, 26-24. The Mustangs (12-5) finished third in D-I. West York (18-1), the defending Y-A playoff champion, came into the match ranked No. 5 in the state in 3-A.

Gianna Krinock (13 digs, six kills), Julia Rill (seven digs, seven kills), Kam Hepler (12 digs), Kiersten Bowser (eight kills), Taylor Morley (nine digs, 27 assists) and Tesia Thomas (10 kills) paced the Bulldogs.

South Western's stat leaders were Madisyn McMaster (eight kills, 17 assists, nine digs), Megan Wolf (12 digs), Jacy Crouse (14 assists, eight digs), Ali St Rose (13 kills, 14 digs) and Kendall Snyder (14 digs).

Semifinals and final: In Tuesday's semifinals at Dallastown, Delone faces Eastern at 6 p.m. and Dover meets West York at 7:30 p.m. 

The semifinal winners will meet for the league playoff title at 7 p.m. Wednesday back at Dallastown.
