The York Suburban girls' volleyball team entered the 2018 season ranked No. 4 in the state among Class 3-A teams by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.

Wednesday night, the Trojans certainly lived up to that billing.

The Trojans traveled to McSherrystown and came home with a surprisingly easy 25-16, 25-7, 25-21 triumph over a Delone Catholic team that came into the match ranked No. 2 in the state in 2-A by the PVCA.

It was the second 3-0 victory in two nights for coach Sonia Guyer's Trojans, who also rolled past York High on Tuesday in their York-Adams Division II opener.

Delone, which finished second in the state in 2-A in 2017, opened 2018 York-Adams Division III play on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over York Catholic, which came into the match ranked No. 9 in the state in 2-A by the PVCA.

One other Y-A team has earned a preseason top-10 ranking from the PVCA. West York is No. 7 in 3-A. The Bulldogs have advanced to the PIAA 3-A semifinals in each of the last two seasons.
