GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: York Suburban storms back from 0-2 hole to beat Susquehannock

  • York Suburban rallied from an 0-2 hole in girls' volleyball to beat Susquehannock.
  • Suburban improved to 10-1 in York-Adams Division II action.
  • The Trojans sit in second place behind unbeaten West York (12-0) in the division.

York Suburban stormed back from an 0-2 hole to beat Susquehannock and remain in the thick of the York-Adams Division II girls' volleyball race on Thursday, Oct. 13.

The Trojans downed Susquehannock in Glen Rock, 16-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-12, 15-10.


Suburban improved to 10-1 in the division and sits in second place behind unbeaten West York (12-0). Susquehannock fell to 7-5 in the division.

Suburban's statistical leaders were Lauren Guyer (38 assists, nine digs), Chey Buckingham (17 kills), Eryn McBride (25 digs) and Ali Reinecker (10 digs, seven kills).

Susquehannock was paced by Amber Bortner (39 digs), Jaden Walker (13 kills, 11 digs), Maddie Gieple (16 assists, five digs) and Emily Sweitzer (19 assists, eight digs).

Suburban won the JV match, 2-0.



Dallastown 3, Dover 2: At Dover, the Wildcats won the match, 27-25, 23-25, 15-25, 25-19, 15-10. Lydia Stump led the Wildcats with nine kills, nine digs and three aces. Also for Dallastown, Gabby Ream had 36 assists, six digs, four aces and three blocks, Delaney Kolb had eight kills and seven digs and Tatiana Matuszewski had 10 kills. For the Eagles, Chayce Hoffman had 20 kills, 17 digs and six aces, while Emma Davis had 19 kills, seven digs, three aces and three blocks and Abby Diehl had 42 assists and six digs. Dallastown won the JV match, 2-0.

West York 3, Northeastern 0: At West York, the Bulldogs rolled to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 triumph to improve to 12-0 in York-Adams Division II action. West York won the JV match, 2-1.

York Catholic 3, Littlestown 1: At York Catholic, after dropping the first game, the Irish rebounded to collect a 21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-14 victory. Abby Pilkey posted 15 kills and Megan Daugherty added 33 assists to the victorious effort.The Irish also won the JV match, 2-0.

Red Lion 3, New Oxford 2: At New Oxford, the Lions outlasted the Colonials, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17, 24-26, 15-10. New Oxford won the JV match, 25-23, 26-28, 15-4.

Central York 3, Spring Grove 0: At Central, in a match from Wednesday, the Panthers cruised, 25-9, 25-22, 25-14, to improve to 9-1 in York-Adams Division I, clinching at least a share of the division crown. Linnea Prudell (22 assists), Marley Anderson (16 digs), Alexa Shorts (eight kills, seven digs) and Emily Wilt (seven kills) paced the winners. Airika McCaskill (six kills), Kaylyn Zeigler (five kills, 10 assists) and Hailey Marcionette (eights assists, seven digs) led the Rockets. Spring Grove won the JV match, 2-0.
