PREP: Dover girls' volleyball team finishes strong to beat New Oxford

  • The Dover girls' volleyball team earned a 25-17, 20-25, 27-25, 25-19 win over New Oxford on Tuesday.
  • Chayce Hoffman led the Eagles with 14 kills and 14 digs.
  • Abby Diehl added 29 assists and 12 digs, while Emma Davis had 16 kills and five aces.

The Dover girls' volleyball team took control over the final two games to earn a 25-17, 20-25, 27-25, 25-19 victory over New Oxford on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Chayce Hoffman led the Eagles individually with 14 kills and 14 digs. Abby Diehl had 29 assists and 12 digs, Emma Davis had 16 kills and five aces and Triana Krider had seven kills.


For the Colonials, Taylor Laughman had 12 kills and three aces, while Torrin Kelley had 23 assists.

New Oxford won the JV match 25-17, 25-16.



West York 3, Gettysburg 0: At Gettysburg, the Bulldogs continued their domination of York-Adams Division II with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-23 win over Gettysburg. West York improved to 9-0 in the division, while Gettysburg fell to 5-4. West York also won the JV match, 2-0.

Dallastown 3, Spring Grove 1: At Spring Grove, the Wildcats prevailed, 26-24, 25-18, 21-25, 25-17. Gabby Ream had a huge match, passing for 40 assists and coming up with 12 digs, while Lexie Kalligonis had 24 digs and Tatiana Matuszewski finished with 16 kills. For Spring Grove, Kaylyn Zeigler had 14 assists, Ellie Glass had 20 digs and Kendra Miller had seven blocks. Dallastown won the JV match, 2-0.

York Catholic 3, Fairfield 0: At York, the Irish rolled, 25-13, 25-8, 25-9. York Catholic was led b Megan Daugherty (14 assists, six digs), McKenna Walker (16 digs) and Madeline Walker (10 assists). York Catholic won the JV match, 2-0.

Susquehannock 3, Eastern York 0: At Glen Rock, the Warriors had little trouble sweeping the Golden Knights, 25-20, 25-10, 25-23. Jaden Walker had 12 kills and 10 digs to lead Susquehannock, while Emily Sweitzer had 13 digs and 11 assists and Amber Bortner finished with 19 digs. Brooke LeCesa had 10 kills for Eastern, while Morgan Winter had 15 digs. Susquehannock won the JV match, 2-0.

York Suburban 3, Northeastern 0: At Suburban, the Trojans rolled, 25-11, 25-12, 25-11. Lauren Guyer had 26 assists to lead Suburban, while Ali Reinecker had 11 kills and Eryn McBride came up with 12 digs. Northeastern’s Natalie Martin was the only player to record any double-digit stat, finishing with 10 assists. Suburban won the JV match, 2-1.

South Western 3, Red Lion 0: At Red Lion, the Mustangs dominated, 25-9, 25-22, 25-16. South Western’s Jacy Crouse and Madisyn McMaster each had 15 assists, while McMaster also added 15 digs. Ali St. Rose came up with 16 digs as well for the Mustangs. South Western won the JV match, 2-0.

Kennard-Dale 3, York High 0: At York, Andrea Wolf served up nine aces as the Rams collected a 25-6, 25-20, 25-12 victory. Keishla Ortiz posted five kills for the Bearcats.

Littlestown 3, York Tech 0: At Littlestown, the Thunderbolts cruised, 25-15, 25-5, 25-17. Emily Staub led the charge for Littlestown, passing for 13 assists, while Peytan Gullickson served four aces. Littlestown won the JV match, 2-0.


Eastern York 4, York Suburban 0: At Wrightsville, the Golden Knights did all their damage in the first half. Gavvin Donnelly scored twice, while Andrew Hetter and Dalton Leik also found the back of the net. 

York Catholic 3, Bermudian Springs 1: At Bermudian Springs, a pair of first-half goals propelled the Irish to victory. T.J. McGraw got things started for the Irish and Tat Kibler added another goal before half. Nick Santamaria also scored for York Catholic.

Red Lion 1, South Western 0: At Red Lion, Cade Adomanis netted the game’s only goal in the first half. Red Lion keeper Levi McKeever stopped all six shots that he faced.

Dallastown 4, Spring Grove 2: At Dallastown, Cade Curran recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Wildcats. Nate Kneiss, Leo Garcia and Addison Keja also scored for Dallastown. Brant Aughenbaugh scored a pair of goals for the Rockets.

Northeastern 3, New Oxford 1: At Manchester, the Bobcats scored two unanswered second-half goals to break a 1-1 halftime deadlock. Individually for the Bobcats, Ben Hays scored two goals, while Joel Afata picked up two assists and Alex Afata scored one goal, while Kevin Torres added one assist. Bobcats goalie Damon Faulkner made seven stops to record the victory.


Susquehannock 2, West York 1: At Glen Rock, all the offense came in the second half, with the Warriors finding the winner with less than two minutes to play. After Ashlynn Weger opened the scoring for Susquehannock, West York’s Harley Pressel responded with six minutes to play, tying the game at 1-1. However, Taylor Tannura netted the winner with 1:25 to play to lift the Warriors.

York Catholic 5, Bermudian Springs 0: At York Catholic, Carolyn Haskell scored a pair of goals to lead the Irish. Grace Hatchard, Megan Lehr and Anabella Ebel also recorded goals for York Catholic. Angela DeBolt stopped six shots in goal to preserve the shutout.

Northeastern 3, New Oxford 0: At New Oxford, Camryn Kurilla led the Bobcats by scoring one goal and adding one assist. Alexandra Versace and Amanda Leisses each scored one goal, while Amanda Bentz added one assist.


New Oxford 7, Dover 0: At Dover, Carly Flickinger led the Colonials to the victory by recording a hat trick. New Oxford won the JV match, 2-0.
