VOLLEYBALL: Spring Grove sweeps Red Lion to remain perfect in York-Adams Division I action

Spring Grove remained unbeaten in York-Adams Division I girls' volleyball action with a sweep of Red Lion on Thursday night, Sept, 14, 25-18, 25-21, 25-17.

The win for the Rockets moves them to 3-0 in division play, while doing it against the reigning Division I-champion Lions.


Kaylyn Zeigler had 18 assists for Spring Grove, while Faith Shaffer had 15 digs and Kendra Miller had 10 digs.

No stats were reported for Red Lion.



Dallastown 3, New Oxford 0: At Dallastown, the Wildcats won, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18. Gabby Ream led the Wildcats with six kills, 28 assists and nine digs. Also for Dallastown, Delaney Kolb had nine kills and seven digs, Lexie Kalligonis had 18 digs and Lydia Stump had five kills and seven digs. Dallastown won the JV match, 2-0.

Hanover 3, York Tech 1: At Spry, the Nighthawks triumphed, 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20. Hanover’s Ally Montour had 11 kills and 14 digs, while Sierra Stevens had 23 digs and Savannah Disney passed for 20 assists. No stats were reported for Tech. Hanover won the JV match, 2-0.

Susquehannock 3, Kennard-Dale 0: At Glen Rock, the Warriors cruised, 25-15, 25-14, 25-18. Amber Bortner led Susquehannock with 27 digs, while Emily Sweitzer and Maddie Geiple each had 10 assists. For K-D, Jaden Grey had four kills and four digs, while Jess Moore had five digs and three aces and Andrea Wolf had three kills and three digs. Susquehannock also swept the JV match, 2-0.

York Catholic 3, Bermudian Springs 0: At York Springs, the Irish won, 25-21, 25-15, 25-10. Emily Hoffman led the Irish with seven kills, nine assists and four aces. Also for the Irish, Megan Daugherty had 17 assists, Bella Kepner had eight kills and McKenna Walker had 12 digs. For the Eagles, Kirsten Baker had 19 digs. York Catholic won the JV match, 2-0.

Gettysburg 3, Northeastern 0: At Manchester, the Warriors won, 25-20, 25-16, 27-25. Gettysburg got 13 digs from Alexis Stoufer, 12 digs and nine kills from Tess Lampe and 10 digs from Sammi Faloon. Neli LaCourt led Northeastern with 18 digs, while Natalie Martin had 21 assists and Courtney Dolan served four aces. Northeastern won the JV match, 2-0.

Central York 3, South Western 2: At Hanover, the Panthers prevailed, 16-25, 26-24, 25-20, 21-25, 15-10. Emily Wilt (13 kills, seven digs), MacKenna Caruso (35 digs, 12 kills), Marley Anderson (33 digs), Linnea Prudell (43 assists, 19 digs) and Alexa Shorts (11 kills, 17 digs) paced Central. Madisyn McMaster (39 assists, 17 digs), Morgan Czapp (12 kills, 14 digs), Alexis Clark (14 digs), Megan Wolf (45 digs, eight kills) and Ali St. Rose (20 digs, seven kills) led the Mustangs.

York Suburban 3, York High 0: At York Suburban, the Trojans rolled, 25-2, 25-5, 25-15 victory. Lauren Guyer passed for 24 assists for Suburban, while Eryn McBride served 10 aces. Jae Fitch served two aces for York High. Suburban also won the JV match, 2-0.

West York 3, Eastern York 0: At Wrightsville, the Bulldogs won, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18. West York won the JV match, 2-0.
