GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: York Catholic stays perfect in D-III

  • York Catholic beat Hanover on Tuesday, 25-23, 25-17, 25-23.
  • The Lady Irish improved to 5-0 in York-Adams Division III action.
  • McKenna Walker had 22 digs for the Irish, while Megan Dougherty had 10 assists.

The York Catholic girls' volleyball team remained perfect in York-Adams Division III action on Tuesday with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-23 triumph at Hanover.

The Lady Irish moved to 5-0 in the division, good for a tie for first-place with Delone Catholic.


McKenna Walker had 22 digs for Catholic, while her teammate, Megan Dougherty, had 10 assists. Alexa Merrel had 10 kills for Hanover.



West York 3, York High 0: At West York, the Bulldogs won, 25-3, 25-13, 25-9. Abbey James led the Bulldogs with 30 assists, four kills and three aces. Also for West York, Marisa Krinock had nine kills and four aces, Tesia Thomas had 10 kills and Julia Rill had nine kills. For the Bearcats, Emoni Perkiss had five digs, while Jae Fitch had two kills and two digs. West York won the JV match, 2-0.

Red Lion 3, Dover 0: At Dover, the Lions had little trouble with the Eagles, winning 25-16, 25-19, 25-21. Red Lion’s Lindsey Blevins had 10 kills and 10 digs, while Maddie Grim had 31 assists. Dover got 18 assists from Abby Diehl and 11 digs from Tiff Jewitt. The Eagles won the JV match, 2-0.

South Western 3, Spring Grove 2: At Hanover, the Mustangs rallied for a 14-25, 25-10, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13 win. Ali St. Rose had 14 kills and 14 digs for South Western, while Madisyn McMaster had 11 kills and 21 digs. Spring Grove was led by Josie Attig and her 36 assists, while Lexi Yingling had 21 digs. The Rockets won the JV match, 2-0.

Gettysburg 3, Susquehannock 1: At Glen Rock, Sammi Faloon had 17 kills, Emma Harvey had 32 digs and Alexis Tomassini posted 37 assists as the visitors won, 25-20, 22-25, 25-15, 25-23. Amber Sweitzer had 22 assists and 15 digs, while teammate Gabee Ogude recorded eight kills to lead Susquehannock.

Delone Catholic 3, York Tech 0: At Spry, the Squirettes rolled, 25-7, 25-8, 25-11, to stay unbeaten in York-Adams Division III at 5-0. Brooke Glass (seven assists, four digs), Kayli Shoff (seven digs, five assists) and MaryBeth Diaz (four kills, three digs) paced Tech. Delone won the JV match, 25-8, 25-6.

Central York 3, New Oxford 2: At Central York, the Panthers won, 13-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-12. Kamryn Stambaugh led the Panthers with 16 kills, five aces, six blocks and four digs. Also for Central, Ashley Gallagher had 11 kills, 18 digs and four aces; Emma Saxton had 11 digs and 53 assists; and Emily Wilt had 19 kills and five digs. For the Colonials, Carly Rippeon had 10 kills, four digs and three aces, while Wren Berry had 28 assists, three kills and four aces. Central won the JV match, 2-0.

Eastern York 3, Northeastern 0: At Manchester, the visitors grabbed a 25-10, 25-7, 26-24 victory. The Golden Knights were led by Brooke Lacesa (12 Kills) and Liz Pyles (14 assists). Northeastern was paced by Jackie Kurilla (14 Digs) and Natalie Martin (11 assists).

Littlestown 3, Fairfield 0: At Fairfield, the Thunderbolts won, 25-12, 25-22, 25-20. Alex Morrissett had seven digs for Littlestown and Adrienne Trout had six assists. Littlestown won the JV match, 2-0.

Greencastle-Antrim 3, Bermudian Springs 0: At Greencastle, the Eagles lost the non-league match, 25-14, 25-12, 25-5. Hailey Madara led the Eagles with three aces. Bermudian won the JV match, 26-24, 22-25, 15-12.
