GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: York Tech storms back to beat McCaskey in thriller
York Tech 3, McCaskey 2: At York Tech, Kirstyn Evans recorded 18 kills and Judy Barton added 17 kills to help the hosts edge McCaskey, 17-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-8. The Spartans looked as if they might be swept by their guests, trailing 18-12 at one point in the third game before their impressive comeback effort began. Brooke Glass and Kayli Shoff made sure the Spartans' offense ran efficiently, handing out 38 and 30 assists, respectively.
Spring Grove 3, Manheim Township 0: At Manheim Central, the Rockets went on the road and downed the Blue Streaks, 25-13, 25-9, 25-8, in the non-league match. Josie Attig (25 assists, eight digs) and Kendra Miller (10 kills) led Spring Grove.
Eastern York 3, ELCO 0: At Myerstown, the Golden Knights swept the Raiders, 25-18, 25-19, 27-25, earning the road victory. Madison Anslow and Brooke LaCesa each had five kills for Eastern York, while Kailee Fletcher and Natalie Grim each came up with six digs.
South Western 3, Northeastern 0: At South Western, well-rounded efforts from Hannah McMaster and Tori Sager helped the hosts sweep the Bobcats, 25-22, 25-20, 25-11. McMaster set the pace for the offense, handing out 14 assists to go along with eight digs, five kills, an ace and a block. Sager had 10 digs, eight kills and five aces. Northeastern was led by 15 assists from Alivia Crerand and seven kills from Whitney Brown.
Warwick 3, Dallastown 0: At Warwick, the Wildcats dropped the non-league contest, 25-20, 25-14, 25-16. Toni Cappas (six kills), Tessa Myers (six kills), Kat Forry (16 digs) and Emma Mason (14 assists) led the Wildcats.
Bermudian Springs 3, York Catholic 0: At York Springs, the Eagles completed the sweep over the Irish, 26-24, 25-14, 25-22. Bermudian got big efforts from Haley Dull and Miki Seifert, who combined for 29 service points. York Catholic's McKenna Walker had 13 assists and Brooke Ricks finished with 14 digs. The Irish won the JV match, 25-16, 20-25, 15-10.
Hanover 3, Lititz Christian 1: At Lititz, the Hawkettes won the non-league match, 25-16, 25-19, 21-25, 25-16. Maria Drawbaugh led the visitors with 10 kills and three blocks.
Waynesboro 3, New Oxford 1: At New Oxford, the hosts were led by 13 kills from Madi Smith and 28 assists from Wren Berry in a 14-25, 16-25, 27-25, 16-25 loss to Waynesboro.
