GIRLS' TENNIS: Seasons end for Dallastown, Delone
- Dallastown suffered a 3-2 loss to Exeter on Thursday in a District 3 3-A third-place match.
- Delone Catholic dropped a 4-1 defeat to Berks Catholic in a District 3 2-A third-place match.
- The setbacks ended the seasons for both Dallastown and Delone.
The Dallastown girls' tennis season came to an end on Thursday with a 3-2 loss to Exeter in the District 3 Class 3-A third-place match at Hershey Racquet Club.
Fourth-seeded Exeter swept the three singles matches, while third-seeded Dallastown took the two doubles events.
Exeter will now advance to the PIAA state tournament.
Meghan Salaga teamed with Taylor Jones to take the No. 1 doubles match, while Lindsey Shaeffer and Bri Smith captured the No. 2 doubles match.
All five matches ended in straight sets.
Dallastown, the York-Adams Division I champion, finished at 14-3. Exeter improved to 12-3.
Top-seeded Manheim Township (20-0) took the 3-A crown with a 5-0 triumph over No. 2 seed Hershey.
Delone falls: In Class 2-A, third-seeded Delone Catholic also saw its season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to fifth-seeded Berks Catholic in another third-place contest.
Ellie Neudecker won her No. 2 singles match in straight sets for Delone's only point.
Delone, the York-Adams Division II champion, finishes at 13-3 overall. Berks Catholic improved to 11-4.
Top-seeded Wyomissing (13-1) cruised to the 2-A championship with a 3-0 win over second-seeded Lancaster Catholic.
