The Dallastown girls' tennis team is just two wins away from a District 3 3-A championship.
The third-seeded Wildcats advanced to the semifinals on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over sixth-seeded Central Dauphin at the Hershey Racquet Club.
Dallastown, the York-Adams Division I champion, will now face off against second-seeded Hershey at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, back at HRC. Hershey cruised to its semifinal berth with a 5-0 triumph over seventh-seeded New Oxford on Tuesday.
No. 1 Christie Friedrich, No. 2 Madi Reed and No. 3 Morgan Kistler swept the singles matches to give Dallastown its victory. Reed and Kistler lost just a combined five games in earning straight-set victories.
Friedrich, however, had to work a little harder, rallying from a 4-6 first-set loss to win the final two sets by identical 6-2 scores.
If Dallastown can beat Hershey on Wednesday it would play for the district championship at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at HRC against the winner of Wednesday's other semifinal between top-seeded Manheim Township and fourth-seeded Exeter.
If Dallastown loses to Hershey, it would still compete in the third-place match at HRC at 2 p.m. Thursday against the Manheim Township-Exeter loser.
The top three teams from District 3 will earn berths into the PIAA 3-A playoffs.
