Four seeded players were ousted Thursday during the first day of the York-Adams League Girls' Tennis Tournament singles competition.
Two seeded players fell in Class AA action at Red Lion, while two more lost in AAA play at South Western.
In AA, No. 6 Lydia Fairlamb of West York and No. 7 Brianna Miller of Kennard-Dale suffered losses. Fairlamb dropped her first-round match to Delone Catholic's Maria Waminal, 6-1, 6-2. Miller lost in the second round to Suburban's Samantha Clancy, 7-5, 6-2.
The AA quarterfinal pairings on Friday are: No. 1 Brooke Yurick of Bermudian Springs vs. No. 5 Ellie Neudedcker of Delone Catholic; No. 3 Megan Orndorff of Biglerville vs. Clancy; Waminal vs. No. 4 Liv Pindzola of York Suburban; and No. 8 Brooke Siebert of Kennard-Dale vs. No. 2 Alyssa Neudecker of Delone.
In AAA, No. 7 Jessica McDonald of Susquehannock and No. 8 Morgan Kistler of Dallastown were eliminated. McDonald fell in the first round to Brooke Moyer of New Oxford, 7-5, 6-3, while Kistler lost in the second round to Kara Holland of Central York, 6-3, 6-4.
The AAA quarterfinal pairings on Friday are: No. 1 Dagney Markle of New Oxford vs. Holland; No. 4 Madi Reed of Dallastown vs. No. 5 Michaela Sentz of South Western; No. 2 Christie Friedrich of Dallastown vs. Moyer; and No. 3 Maddy Mummert of Central York vs. No. 6 Alex DiGiovanni of Dover.
The action resumes at 2 p.m. Friday at South Western with the quarterfinals and semifinals. The finals and consolation matches are set to start at 9 a.m. Saturday, again at South Western.
