D-3 HOOPS: Dover's Rajah Fink goes over 1,000 points


Junior Rajah Fink went over the 1,000-point mark for her career on Thursday night in Dover's 38-28 triumph over Lampeter-Strasburg in the District 3 Class 5-A seventh-place game.

Fink entered the game needing five points to reach the milestone.

Fink becomes Dover's first female 1,000-point scorer since Alayah Hall in 2014. Ryan Beck was the last Dover boys' player to reach the mark in 2015. Hall is the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,619 points.

The seventh-seeded Eagles improved to 19-10. Fourth-seeded Lampeter-Strasburg fell to 20-7.

Dover will move on to state play next Saturday, March 11, against the District 11 champion.



Berks Catholic 54, York Suburban 25: At Manheim, the sixth-seeded Trojans fell in the District 3 4-A fifth-place game. Katherine Mooney had eight points for Suburban, which fell to 14-11. No. 8 Berks Catholic improved to 16-12. Suburban will enter the PIAA playoffs as the sixth seed from District 3 and will face the District 4 champion on Friday, March 10.

Cedar Crest 48, Central York 41: At Manheim, the fourth-seeded Panthers (24-4) fell to second-seeded Cedar Crest (27-1) in the District 3 6-A third-place game. 
Teirra Preston (13), Nikson Valencik (11) and Emma Saxton (10) each hit double digits in scoring. The Panthers led 15-7 after one quarter and still led 33-29 entering the final period, but couldn't hold on. Central will enter the PIAA playoffs as the No. 4 seed and will face the third-place team from District 1 on Friday, March 10, at a site and time to be determined.

Central Dauphin East 51, Dallastown 43: At Cumberland Valley, the 11th-seeded Wildcats saw their season end at 13-14 with a loss in the District 3 6-A seventh-place game. Dallastown had to win the game to earn a state playoff berth. Ninth-seeded Central Dauphin East will take a 15-10 mark in to the state playoffs.

West York 52, New Oxford 43: At Cumberland Valley, the ninth-seeded Bulldogs (17-8) beat the third-seeded Colonials (21-8) in the District 3 5-A fifth-place game. Both teams move on to the state playoffs on Saturday, March 11, at sites and times to be determined. As the fifth seed, West York will face the second-place team from District 12. As the sixth seed, New Oxford meets the District 2 champion.



Brooks scores 44: Eli Brooks scored 44 points Wednesday in Spring Grove's 87-76 loss to Milton Hershey in the District 3 5-A third-place game at Lower Dauphin. That was just two points off his career high.
