Jason Warner is returning as the head football coach at New Oxford High School.

The Conewago Valley School District and the New Oxford athletic department announced Warner's hiring on Tuesday, Jan. 16. He was officially approved by the school district on Monday night, Jan. 15.

It will be the fourth head-coaching change at New Oxford in the last five seasons. In the last four seasons, New Oxford's football teams have compiled a 2-38 record.

Warner served as the Colonials' interim head coach during the 2015 season, when the Colonials finished at 2-8. Warner took over the program that season on late notice when Jason Thurston suddenly resigned shortly before the season.

Former Northern York head coach Greg Bowman then took over the New Oxford program on a permanent basis for the 2016 season. The Colonials, however, struggled to win under Bowman, going 0-20 in his two seasons and he was not rehired. Bowman had been 8-4 in his only season as Northern's coach,.

New Oxford issued the following news release on Warner's hiring.

"Mr. Warner’s dedication and commitment to athletics at New Oxford consists of coaching within the football program for 11 seasons and track-and-field program for 13 seasons. Mr. Warner’s ability to lead student-athletes and his overall vision for the football program was truly admirable during the interview process. Over his coaching tenure, he has had the ability develop strong working relationships with a variety of student-athletes, and provided them with useful tools and skills in order to guarantee success in competition and in the classroom. Mr. Warner’s ability to motivate and encourage student-athletes to set high standards as well as his continuous display of passion and loyalty has led to much success during his respective coaching career."

There are still two football head coaching openings in the York-Adams League.

Longtime Dallastown head coach Kevin Myers resigned after the season and Hanover head coach Bill Reichart resigned recently. Myers was 83-60 over 13 seasons and Reichart was 21-20 over four seasons.
