Outlook: The Warriors will have to replace a number of top talents at many key positions as the fall begins. Seven all-stars depart, including standout running back Edny Celius and receiver Ferrious Ashford, as well as starting quarterback Josh Clapsaddle.
Head coach Matt Heiser is back for a sixth season and will look to his returning seniors for leadership on a squad that’ll look to a number of newcomers to step up.
The Warriors' strength will likely come on the defensive side of the ball, where Gettysburg sees the return of a pair of all-star defensive backs in Liaon Shelton and Brady Fouchei. Griffith Schultz is another key returner who helps solidify the Warriors' secondary.
Gettysburg will also be strong in the middle of its defense, with Bryce Newman, Kobe Giron and Josh Paul anchoring its linebacker corps.
On offense, Newman looks to be a possibility to fill Celius’ spot at running back, but Heiser said he wouldn’t be alone there. Brady Buckley figures to be a front runner for the starting quarterback vacancy, but names such as Simeon Davis, Zach Ketterman and Devin Compton are in the mix.
Quotable: “There’s a great team chemistry going on right now, and we’re not about to let anyone come in and throw rocks and break the glass that way. They have good chemistry, they’re really focused and looking forward to getting things started.” — head coach Matt Heiser.
