New Oxford hires head football coach

STAFF REPORT

One of the six vacancies in the York-Adams League head football coaching ranks has been filled.

.

New Oxford High School officially hired Greg Bowman at Monday night's Conewago Valley School District Board of Directors meeting.

Bowman comes to the Colonials from Northern York High School, where he compiled a 8-4 record in his only year as the Polar Bears' head coach. That included a 30-16 District 3-AAA victory over York Suburban.

Bowman, a former assistant coach at Lower Dauphin and Central York, will also head the district's technical education department.

Bowman will replace Jason Warner, who was New Oxford's interim head coach last fall after Jason Thurston's sudden resignation last summer.

New Oxford has struggled in recent years, going 2-8 in 2015 and 0-10 in 2014. Their combined York-Adams Division I record in those two years was 1-13.

The other York-Adams head coaching positions at Central York, Eastern York, York High, York Tech and Kennard-Dale have yet to be filled.
